The European Commission proposed on Wednesday to continue suspending tariffs for electric vehicles and batteries traded between the European Union and Britain for three more years. The extension until the end of 2026 cannot be renewed, under the commission’s plans. Due to the UK’s exit from the EU, new customs rules were due to come into force from January 2024, under which certain vehicles would have been subject to a duty of 10%.
